A new docu-series called, The Defiant Ones, about the relationship between musical ICONS, Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre is about to hit your favorite premium channel, HBO.
According to HBO,
The Defiant Ones is a four-part documentary series that tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre — one the son of a Brooklyn longshoreman, the other straight out of Compton — their improbable partnership and surprising leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture.
The docu-series will feature interviews from some of the most notable iconic names in music Snoop Dogg, Nas, Gwen Stefani, Ice Cube, Eminem, Bono, and many others. This should be a highly inspiring and informational four-part series for anyone needing a moral booster, or just a good ol’ kick in the ass for making their dreams come true.
I will be sure to tune in.
The Defiant Ones premieres on July 9th at 9pm on HBO.

If you love murder mystery documentaries as much as I do then I have a treat for you!
HBO Documentaries are always gritty, crazy, graphic, and uncensored. Exactly how I like it. So imagine my intrigue when I saw the trailer for “Mommy Dead & Dearest”. I immediately watched the trailer and grabbed my remote so that I could record it to my DVR when it dawned on me. Girl, you don’t have no damn HBO. Shit. My plan has been foiled. I immediately started to think to myself, who do I need to sweet talk in order to access some HBO?
Luckily, God shown his mercy upon me, the YouTube Gods shined down, and up pops the full documentary via YouTube for my viewing pleasure.
Synopsis via HBO:
Things are not always as they appear, especially in the case of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Child Abuse, mental illness, and forbidden love converge in this mystery involving a mother and daughter who were thought to be living a fairy tale life that turned out to be a living nightmare.
What starts out as a grisly tale of matricide morphs into a rabbit hole of deception and unrelenting abuse, journeying towards the truth about what happened that night. Featuring exclusive access to Gypsy from prison and a trove of police interrogation tapes, medical records, and secret conversations, this HBO Documentary Film is a disturbing, first-hand look at a life arrested and the consequences of trying to keep someone young forever.
It’s crazy. If you have HBO on any platform it’s available for your viewing pleasure. If you’re like me and refuse to pay…YouTube is your friend. The documentary is on YouTube for as long as it takes them to realize it’s up there, and snatch it down for copyright infringement. I advise you to watch it now!
*Update: Well, they snatched it down. That only took a few hours lol

In more stuff you care about news, the editors over at #Newsweek greenlit a brave new article discussing the epiphany that lonely, haggard, and desperate black women are having as it pertains to dating outside of their race. For those of you that are new here that was me being sarcastic.
Newsweek must’ve sensed the sh*t storm that Black Twitter was brewing, because they’ve since deleted the article as well as the tweet referencing the article. The deletions didn’t stop the beautiful Black Queens of Black Twitter from letting them have it though.

In 2015, what’s more coveted than a Netflix password? Think about it…I’ll wait.
An HBOGo password. My mother is an angel. She blesses my life in so many ways, but during my most recent trip home I sat her down and said, “Mother, we must get you set up on HBOGo since you already have it through your cable.” After she finished asking me what it was and why she needed it I politely told her, “So I can watch it at my house on Roku” duh.
There I was a day later flipping through HBOGo via my Roku and seeing all of what it provides. As I was scrolling through every HBO series EVER created I saw this interesting little show called, The Knick. I rememberd about a year ago seeing an advertisement about this show. It centered around a Doctor, surgeries, and a struggling hospital set in what seemed like New York City during the early 1900’s. The shows main character is, Dr. John Thackery, played by Academy Award Winning Actor Clive Owen. Dr. Thackery is a difficult, gifted, and experimental Surgeon who is also addicted to Cocaine. The show also features a character named, Dr. Algernon Edward, played by Andre Holland who is Assistant Chief Surgeon, but due to his ethnicity struggles to be accepted and taken seriously as a skilled Surgeon.
What caught my eye about the show were the shows seemingly graphic hospital scenes! I live for gore, and a sucker for amazing Special F/X, especially ones that involve surgery.
The Knick is directed by Steven Soderbergh and broadcast on Cinemax, but through some amazing promotional deal the 1st season is available for your streaming pleasure on HBOGo for a limited time. The
Do yourself a favor and get hip! The Knick’s second season premiers on October 16th at 10pm on Cinemax.
